Motherhood is a wild, beautiful, and sometimes messy journey. When you choose to document this season of life, my goal as your photographer is to preserve the connection, the little moments, and the real love that fills your home. Whether you're preparing for your first session or have done this before, here are five things I want you to know before we begin.

A tender moment shared between parent and child wearing cozy sweaters while sitting outside a white door.
A heartwarming family moment on a gray couch as they read a book together while holding a teddy bear.

1. Your home is perfect as it is.

You don’t need a magazine-worthy house for a meaningful motherhood session. Your home—the place where you rock your baby to sleep, read bedtime stories, and dance in the kitchen—is already filled with love. I embrace real-life moments, so don’t stress about perfection. A little clutter? That just tells the story of a home well-lived in.

2. Your kids don’t need to “behave.”

One of the best parts of a motherhood session is seeing kids just be themselves. Whether they’re running around, hiding behind you, or needing extra cuddles, it all adds to the authenticity of your session. Let them giggle, explore, and even have a snack break if needed—those natural moments are what make your photos feel real and heartfelt.

3. You don’t have to perform.

This is not about forced smiles or stiff poses. I’ll guide you in ways that feel natural, so you can focus on just being with your children. If that means snuggling on the couch, playing peek-a-boo, or having a quiet moment while nursing, that’s exactly what we’ll preserve.

4. What you wear is less important than how you feel.

Wear something comfortable that makes you feel good. Soft, neutral tones work beautifully, but the most important thing is that you can move and interact freely with your little ones. If your toddler wants to wear their favorite dinosaur pajamas? Let them. It’s part of the story.

5. This is about connection, not perfection.

The most meaningful photos are the ones that remind you how this season of life felt. The way your baby fits perfectly in your arms, the way your toddler holds your hand, the way your child’s face lights up when you whisper a secret—those are the moments worth preserving.

Motherhood is raw, real, and deeply beautiful. Your session is a way to honor that, just as it is. So take a deep breath, let go of expectations, and know that I’m here to document the love that’s already there.

Whether we create these moments in the comfort of your home or outdoors in a beautiful, natural setting, the focus will always be on your connection. Your session can be as relaxed or adventurous as you want—picnicking in a sunlit field, walking along a quiet trail, or simply snuggling on your couch.

Ready to preserve these fleeting moments? Let’s create something beautiful together.
