Welcoming Baby Luna: A Heartwarming In-Home Session with the Fox Family

There’s something truly magical about documenting families in the comfort of their own homes, surrounded by the familiar chaos and love that make up their everyday lives. The Fox family’s newborn session was one for the books—a beautiful mix of joy, nostalgia, and bittersweet moments. With their newest addition, baby Luna, settling into her role as the littlest star of the family, and their beloved old pup saying goodbye, this session was a poignant reminder of the circle of life and the love that binds us.

The Coziest Chaos

When I arrived at the Fox family’s home, the energy was palpable. Big brother H and big sister I greeted me with excitement, ready to show off their new sibling. H was the epitome of the protective older brother, keeping a watchful eye on Luna while still finding time to sneak in some goofy moments. I, on the other hand, couldn’t stop giggling as she cradled her baby sister. These sibling moments are what make in-home sessions so special—they’re unscripted, genuine, and brimming with personality.

Even the family’s cats decided to make cameo appearances, weaving in and out of frames as if they knew this was their moment too. Luna slept peacefully through most of the session, oblivious to the love and laughter surrounding her.

A Tribute to Their Loyal Companion

What made this session particularly touching was that it was the family’s last day with their old dog, Jack. Jack, with his graying muzzle and soulful eyes, stayed close to his humans the entire time. He lay quietly by H and I as they played, occasionally stopping to give them tail wags and kisses. The love and gratitude the family had for Jack were obvious. Including him in this session felt like the perfect way to honor his years of unwavering loyalty and companionship.

Finding Beauty in the Everyday

One of my favorite parts of the session was photographing the family in their living room, where the late fall sunlight poured through the windows, highlighting tender moments. Mom and Dad, dressed in soft neutrals that perfectly complemented their home’s cozy aesthetic, took turns holding Luna, their faces glowing with pride and love.

In the nursery, H and I sat on the floor beside Luna, who was bundled up in a beautiful knitted blanket. These little details—the handmade blankets, the lived-in corners of their home, the slightly wrinkled sheets on the parents’ bed—are what make in-home sessions so authentic. It’s not about perfection; it’s about documenting the beauty of your real, everyday life.

Why In-Home Sessions Are So Special

If you’re considering a newborn session, let this be your sign to do it in your home. There’s a certain magic that comes with photographing your family in your own space—the place where you laugh, cry, and make memories. It’s where your story unfolds, and that’s what we want to capture.

For the Fox family, their session wasn’t just about welcoming Luna; it was also about celebrating their family as it was in that moment—imperfectly perfect. The unplanned giggles, the cuddles on the couch, the quiet moments of reflection, the constant hunger and snacks —those are the memories they’ll cherish forever.
